Janelle Schroeder is a multimedia journalist currently based in the American Southwest. She recently returned to the U.S. from Cape Town, South Africa where she worked as a staff reporter for the Cape Argus, an English-language daily newspaper that has been in existence since 1857.
She attended Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism from January 2011 to December 2011 and completed her Master of Science in journalism with a magazine writing and editing concentration in March 2012.
Before moving to Cape Town, Janelle worked as the design director for the graduate program’s magazine innovation project. The 14-student group created a fully-functional iPad magazine for the Bonnier Corporation in less than 10 weeks. She also covered the wildlife beat for the Medill News Service Chicago bureau, where several of her stories were published by the Northwest Indiana Times.
Janelle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in public relations from Pepperdine University in April 2005. After graduation, she worked in public relations and marketing for Maax Spas, a hot tub manufacturer, and CB Richard Ellis, the world’s largest commercial real estate firm.
Janelle considers Las Vegas home and loves baking, CrossFit and her 7-pound dog, Peanut.
